stats: have been all over the place due to it being a (25 litre--- ish)new tank i used some main tank media
do nightly water tests, ammonia nitrite nitrate
they where really fat when i left and there was alot of brine still swimming around when i left ,
6 hours later they looks very skinny and not a scrap left in the tank ,not even poo. girlfriend did stats immediatly when she found 4 of them dead and got ...
NITRATE BETWEEN 5-10
amonia 1.0
and i have been doing 30% to 50% water changes daily,
ive also been putting the water in slowly 20% at a time.
Ive been pouring the dead brine shrimp in as well as as powered dafina (cant spell it).
everything has been going well didn't have any deaths for 4 weeks until yesterday.
the 4 biggest babies died,
so my question is did i feed them so much that their tummies burst? is that possible

nitrite is been at zero for last 2 weeks so did not test..
ive +100 babies in a new triangular tank probably about 25 litres , last night i moved 30 of them out into a main tank with guppies, they should be ok , im worried about the rest.

With the numbers of fish, and for the size tank you have, I would change water one hour after feeding rather than six hours. Perhaps twice daily water changes morning and evening. Not sure I would be dumping dead brine shrimp in the tank in large amounts but I have no experience with anything other than frozen or freezedried shrimp so others will need to comment.
Ammonia and nitrites must read zero all day, every day.
Maybe swipe some more filter material from your other tank to place in the filter of the fry tank?

What do you mean dead brine? Is it salt water your pouring into the tank? If you didn't strain them, and you just poured the water they hatched in, into the tank, then you just put saltwater into a freshwater tank. Was the media from your other tank mature?

oh.... you are so right. its a small amount, but it never occurred to me.
the brine shrimp only last 2 days, takes one day to make them so ive nothing to give the babies for 24 hours..about 50% of the brine shrimp then would have been wasted(dead brine shrimp). duuu and doh.. i normally siphon off the brine, but on that day i was running late and poured the brine shrimp in .
should have stained em. i did put some water in so i could pour off the dead shells ,but salt would have gone to the bottom anyway.
explains why the 4 biggest died, hungry gits full of table salt.

media from the tank was mature , but as its a tiny filter i could only fit in maybe ten more pieces..
ive moved 35 of them into a tank of guppies, should move more in. problem with that is i dont know if lose any ,its a internal tank filter (180 jewel) and impossible to count them.
(i'm not ready for kids yet LOL)
