Hi jayjay....

Yes I am planning to do a fishless cycle...first time so wish me luck...well that's if I can ever find any pure ammonia down here in Scotland??

I tried Homebase this morning and the assistants there just looked at me as if I was a freak? :S
I tried B & Q, Tesco and Boots online but no luck :( Anyone know where you can get pure ammonia in Glasgow??

i dont know where to get pure ammonia, but you could probly get some manure and toss it in your tank,

i think manure would work... but do your own research on manure first, i dont want to ruin your fish tank with an idea that popped into my head...

The staff in Homebase in Swindon looked at me as though I was a village idiot when I asked where there 'Ammonia solution' would be! I needed some other stuff, and wandering around the store I came across the cleaning products aisle. In a simple white bottle, that just says 'household ammonia'

Description on my bottle is " 'Household Ammonia' Cleans, Degreases, removes stains. 100's of uses". Bar code number is 5 050595 251085. It#s a 500ml bottle.

Hope this helps!

i went through getting those same strange looks from homebase and b&q etc a few weeks ago. i finally got a bottle of "Kleen Off" from a non chain hardware store.

i did hear that big boots stores usually have them, even though its not listed online, but havent checked.

the bigger branches of Boots have it - white plastic 500ml bottle with a light blue cross on the label - "Boots Household Ammonia - Household cleaner and laundry aid"
