Just got back from the wonderful world of WalMart and our weekly grocery run. I picked up my ammonia to start my fishless cycle. I bought Clear Ammonia. With ingredients that read: Softened water, Ammonia, and Chelating agent. Chelating agent is the one that had me worried. I shook the living dog doo out of it and no foam. So I believe I am good to go. Anybody know for sure. Peace of mind is a good thing. Thanks. MadCow.

Well a chelating agent is a chemical additive used in stimulation treatments to prevent the precipitation of damaging ferric or iron compounds. During acid treatments, iron scale, rust and iron present in the formation may be dissolved in the treatment fluid. As the acid reacts and the pH increases, some reaction products, such as ferric hydroxide, may precipitate as a gelatinous, insoluble mass. Should this occur within the formation matrix, it is almost impossible to remove and permanent permeability damage may result. Chelating agents prevent precipitation of iron by keeping the iron in a soluble form until it can be flowed back from the formation during cleanup.

I don't know if that helps any...
