Am I Overstocked?

50 gallon tank (36x18x19)

5 Firemouths
1 Blue Acara
1 Convict

Right now they're all about 3 inches.

Not overstocked, but you may have territorial issues as they mature.

agreed. if 2 of the firemouths decide to pair off and spawn youre going to have trouble.

having 1 firemouth i suppose or maybe keep only males or only females but i dont no if this would work for sure maybe someone else can correct me on that

Firemouths are very aggressive when they spawn as with most cichlids and there very easy to breed aswell so with 5 in there they could easily pair and spawn over time and cause hell in your tank

5 male firemouths? not unless you want a bloodbath!!!

the females should be ok but they're not brightly coloured and again, there may be territory issues.

i don't really think you can stop them breeding in your tank. the best thing would be to hope a pair doesn't form and remove the ones that aren't part ofthe pair if one does happen to form.
