hi I've just been given some of these (alternanthera sessllis, spiky red)
and wondered how big they grow.
I can't find much info out there on them :S
any info would be much appreciated

Illegal to own in certain US states as it can be a serious pest. Known as Sessile Joyweed, also known as Alligator Weed, which is actually a different but very similar species.

I've no experience with it, but if you search for "sessile joyweed" you'll find a lot of sites, most of which are how to combat this rampant invader, so I doubt it is particulaly difficult to grow!

thanks LL, looks like I've found a plant I can't kill :)

Every now and again I thought that too when I lived on the Surrey/Hampshire borders. Water from chalk boreholes you see. So hard, you didn't add a few drops to a test strip to measure pH, you got a saw, and cut some off. Dreadful stuff.

RO unit was the best thing I ever bought.

Post some pictures of the plant at some point.

ok, not planted yet, as I've not decided which tank to put them in
