when the fish vhange-over happens , i will deffinately get a red spotted sev , then a sajica which os 1 fish ive always wanted but thats as far as ive got so far.

at the momnent its looking like this

1 red spotted sev
1 sajica
2 bolivian rams
12 corydora sterbai
1 bn plec

and thats it
im looking for something a bit different to your everyday acaras , angels , geos etc

how bout some Uarus, Festivums etc

I was about to say Uarus aswell. What about a Chocolate cichlid? Or maybe a type of Pike cichlid.

the only uarus i like are unfortunately horribly expensive . you those fernandezyepezi ones. i may end up with a couple of sevs instead of 1 sev and several smaller fish .

Mark, scratch BN plecs off unless you really really want one. Get a magnum plec instead. I appreciate they are rather expensive, but they are such an awesome plec. I've found one of my new favourite fish in mine.

Not only are they about 8" max, they also consume algae like you wouldnt believe. Atleast mine does, and when he's resting he literally snuggles up beside my Jack and just sits there leaning on him, or my Jack on him rather :p Spectacular plec, that does what all plecs do, and doesnt get to big whilst looking magnificent. I'll never get a BN again personally, in love with magnums :p

Get a magnum aswell then :p

I have mine with another plec :p Haha, simple solution ;)

Are you sure they only get 9"? Planet catfish says 11" and thats SL by the time you add on the tale aswell the fish will be around 14" long.

no offense but why do you always quote that site its certainly not gospall

Everywhere i've read they've said between 8-10", i heard 8" was far more common though. I'm no plec expert so if someone wants to confirm the technical truth by all means.

Because ive always found there info to be spot on. I was just letting him know it could get alot bigger than 9".

9 or 10 inch plec wouldnt be a problem in my tank. but il just stick to the bn. if i did get a 2nd plec it would be another bn . ive done the whole fancy plec thing , but i love the bn so much cos its such a brilliant little tank cleaner.

Fair enough.
What about a True parrot. They are expensive but stunning fish and unlike the Uarus you would only need to get 1.

Sounds a bit like my tank really :) 1 Sev and a mid sized Central - with tanks like that I think that the approach should be one of two - one stick to individuals and center it around Central Americans that get to a similar size as the Sajica or take it south american and get a group of Geos. Ive just got a group of Rio Nego Wilmenari (spelling) geos today and so now my nic is the odd one out in the tank but shes worth it :)

I went to the shop with other centrals in mind but when I saw the Negro label and the fact of whats happening to the Negro I had to have them. But the centrals I was looking for were Heryithcys Deppi, Cryptoheros Nanoletus (yellow convict), Theraps Coerleus and Thorichtys Aures (spelling on most lol sorry) But yeah I just think that a group of those as singletons would look a nice mix against some general community fish like the schools and catfish :)
