ok well i went to the fish store and i picked out my fish, before i buy them i wanted to check with you guys to make sure they are compatible in a 20 gallon(us) tank so here they are 3 fancy tailed guppys. 6 phantom tetras, 1 bumblebee gobby, 1 coolie loach, 3 wrestling halfbeaks. now i already have bought the guppys. appreciate any suggestions :D

Don't get the bumble bee gobies, thy are brackish fish and won't do well in a freshwater environment. The halfbeaks may cause problems as well, I think that they are brackish, and would probably eat the guppies :)

Hi,

Phantom tetras can be fin nippers and so may shred the guppies tails, bumble bees are usually brackish. Khuli loaches should be in groups of at least 3, no idea about the half beaks. Get some khulis but have a rethink on the tetras. Do a google search on the gobies.

:)

I would get a group of khuli loaches, a small group of a guppies, and a group of nicer tetras - like bleeding heart tetras or rummynose tetras. No gobies of halfbeaks with this combo though. ... Good luck with your tank. :)

ok how about this 4 dwarf neon ranbow fish, 3 fancy tailed guppys, 6 cardinal tetras, and 3 khuli loaches. would this work or is it overstocked? thanks for any help

are your guppies all male?

1 male to 2 females. or if its all males, 5 male guppies minimum

right now i have 12 assorted guppys in the tank. im holding them for a friend. he said once his tnak is ready which is in 3 days hes gonna let me keep 1 male 2 females. i think its a pretty sweet deal. any suggestions?

I would do 2 dwarf gouramis, 5 guppies, 6 cardinals, and 6 khulis instead. Dropping the dwarf rainbows, since they like to be in groups of 6+.

wouldnt the Dwarf gourami's nip the guppies fins?

^^^ Really? Hmmm, a friend of mine doesn't have any problems with his dwarf gouramis being nippy, but he doesn't have them with guppies. So dunno. :/ I was just trying to think of a smaller group/alternative to the rainbows, since there really isn't any room for a proper group of rainbows in a 20 gallon with the other fish.

EDIT: How about just 5-8 guppies, 6-8 cardinals, and 6-8 khulis, then everyone has a lot of breathing room and space to roam. :D

Thats a great idea!!!

i know im stubbern but this right here is the tank that i am hoping to get ok how about this 5 guppys, 6 Dwarf Neon rainbowfish, 6 cardinal tetras, 3 khuli loaches, and 3 zebra danios. is this overcrowded? there in order by the ones i want the most to the one i want the least. but i want them all alot. thanks for any help. FYI-i want the neon rainbows alot. lol

Honestly, I only see room for three groups of fish for a 20 gallon. The dwarf rainbows get up to 2" to 2.5". So if you really want the dwarf rainbows... how about 6 dwarf rainbows, 5 guppies, and 3 cories? No real room for a good group of khuli loaches IMO; they like to be in big groups of 8+ ideally, though alot of people have 5-6 of them. So I guess you could do 5 khulis instead of the 3 cories suggested.
