Has anyone ever experienced loads of algae on the sliding glass covers on their tanks?

The sides of the tank, ornaments etc are not affected.

It was so thick I had to get a scouring pad to remove it ( )

Only always! I suspect it's a combo of splashback and lots of light

i'm having lots of algea on my glass too so my tank is greenish, i posted a new topic talking bout it!

I always get it on my plastic covers, I found that if you lower your water level a bit and reduce the time your light is on for this will reduce the amount of alg but I don't think you can stop it from happening, it's just another joy of fish keeping
