ive got a 50 litre aquarium and i was hoping to get some or just one algae eater for it
this fish will have to be a vegetarian as i breed guppies and not too teratorial i would like a fairly big fish but not something the size of a common pleco
any suggestions/recomendations will be welcome :D

well ottos r good but u need to keep them in groups so your only other real option id say is a bristlenose plec but that might get a bit to big for a 50 litre aquarium i think you might be kinda stuck on the fish front

have u thought about shrimps?

shrimps = no no with a guppy breeder.. theyll get eaten.
Bristlenose plec = maybe try get a female
Otos = 100% yes, get a group of 4 and they will eat most of your algae. good luck!

Yeah group of 6 ottos will be fine. I dont also if a CAE willl be fine also.

sorry i was thinking gallon but i typed litre
its a 50 gal tank - does that open up more options?

It most certainly does  This being the case, I would back the suggestion of a bristlenose, it should be fine with your guppies, eats veggies and is a good size for the tank.

1, dont get a CAE they get 10" and are aggressive can eat other fish.
2, in a 50g it suretanly opens up more options get a trio, 1 male 2 females well try and if you ge all males try rehom 2 and get 2 females as the males will fight.

If you have plenty of plants and hiding places, the shrimp would probably still be ok with the guppies. Another possibility is Florida flag fish. They are said to be great algae eaters but I've never had them. They are also very pretty fish. Just don't know if they would be available in Scotland or not.

florida flag fish will tear your guppies to shreds, since they do the same to bettas according to a site i read.

1, dont get a CAE..... can eat other fish.
that is just bunkum.
they may however get a taste for the slime coat on other fish and they, like all fish, will
scavenge a dead body
