Ok so basically I got an email saying I'd had a request to get my password changed, was in a rush for work, ignored it, logged out. Came to log in again and my password is incorrect. Went through the checks and stuff and I changed my password but it said I'd have to wait 24 hours! So I REALLY don't know why I was such an idiot but I locked the account. To regain control it said I would have to send my name, email address and a pic of my passport with all my info on, which is what I did. The email was recieved by them and that it would be processed (but no idea of when??!)
Does anybody know how long they will take on average to get back to me, from past experience themselves? I'm getting very worried and I know I won't be able to get back on my account without them contacting me...

Or is there?

a pic of your passport? sounds like you've been scammed

As a general rule you should never follow links sent to you in email. If you need to talk to someone at facebook, go to that site and click help.

Identity fraud  possibly

If you have a reclaim function on your email try it I know some do

You have been scammed. SHould never send sensitive info like Passports and licences too people over the internet. Facebook would not ask for this. See if you can reclaim the email. If not then id get straight onto the police.

You walked straight into that one, they have your facebook account, which has most of your personal info on it, plus your passport photo, definitely the tell tail signs that something isn't right there, if you want to change your password on facebook, go onto facebook, click forgot password, then enter your email address and any recovery questions etc and they'll send you an email to change it.

Oh mate, sorry to hear this, as stated report directly to the police, other than this i do not know what to say, i receive mails from different bank names, including my own to click link and change all details etc, I know my bank would never do this, so just report them and delete, there are sooo many know, it does not help that they come with the names of the company, evil swines.

Why would you even think of sending your passport over the internet, that's the craziest thing I've ever heard. On the internet, I'm even weary of sending my name, looks like they'll be a New Eastern European with your name in the UK soon. :p

Ok this is a joke, right?

if not, and i don't mean to be TOO offensive. but you should not be left in charge of a computer!
you need to get help (an Adult?) to contact the authorities and get this sorted. also do a system restore (get someone who knows what they are going though) to back before you clicked the email. then run a full Anti Virus, as well as a registry scan.
cancel all your Credit and Debit Cards , if any. as well as informing your bank. and Pay Pal. change all access passwords for sites and financial things, too. act now. if you don't, your in for a world of hassle. to be fair, you probably are, anyway.

IMPORTANT! send a copy of the Email to the police (electronic crime) and the Passport office.
