Hello all,
I have been keeping tropical fish for about a year. I have a rainbow shark and had one albino rainbow shark, both male. They were bought at the same time so were the same size. They got on really well and had no problems until the albino died. That was three days ago and I bought another albino to replace two days ago. He is much smaller than the rainbow. My rainbow is aggressive and chases the albino about. It wasn't as bad today. I have smaller fish including a siamese fighter that is a male but the rainbow doesnt bother them. I am so scared that the albino will get killed please help.

to be honest they should have never been sold together in my opinion, as far as i know you should only keep rainbow/red tail sharks singly.
as they get aggressive towards each other

But I had two before so. maybe it just needs time will update tommorrow but please keep posting suggestions

How big is the tank? You might get away with this in a large tank with plenty of cover, but in most tanks it's a recipe for one murdering the other eventually. They can be quite well behaved when young, but eventually get very territorial.

its 144 litres but the shop said they will be ok because I bought everything of them and alot of plants

Everything has calmed down today thanks for the help

Keep an eye. Personally I'd only ever keep one 'shark' from one specie in a tank. Rainbows are meant to be more placid than Red Tails towards other fish but still fairly territorial. Same goes for Bala's. Wouldn't mix those with any other shark type either except their own ;) not worth the risk/stress on the fish.

thanls sophie, its starting to calm down as my fighter chased it this morning. Its getting a taste of its own medicine, but it hasnt attacked any others
