Hi

I just added 2 blue german rams to my tank but my 6yr old gourami is chaseing them about like mad! so much so shes scraping herself and getting wedged in places!

Will this behavour stop or do I need to rehome it? I just don't know what to do with her otherwise, shes always been a real bully shes killed fish befor and shes the only fish in the tank at the mo apart from the newcomers as im setting back up!

Any ideas?

How big is your tank and how well planted?

I have 5 of these gouramis and find they're all right as long as they have space and it usually helps to plant/furnish the tank well to break up their line of sight (although my 6ft that my guys are in isn't the best example).

What has she killed before?

i have an opaline gourami along with a pair of gbrs, my tank has lots of plants and i find its the gbrs that bully my opaline.

Opalines always attack new tank mates, its pretty much guarenteed, i used to have a 'prison' set up with my old one, to put him in when new tank mates where brought into the tank, i would put him in it for a few days, then if he attacked...put him back in it again, eventually teh stupid fish learned its lesson, but he did it so much i gave up with him.

I have had one kill a juvi oscar before also.

My mate is currently having problems with his to...they are a very territorial Fish, much more so than any Cichlid i have ever kept.

If they had the 'bite' of a bigger Cichlid to go with there annoying 'bark' they would have a mega bad rep lol.
