Age Question

Okay, this may have been asked before, but about how old are bettas when you get them at a LFS or say...Wal*Mart? I was wondering because if bettas only live for a few years, how much of that is already gone when you get them at the store?

If they are VTs, they are usually 6 months to 1 year old. They don't sell as well when they are young because their fins are not as long as when they are full grown.

That sucks though... That could be half of their life depending on their care... Maybe I'll actaully get money someday and i can start buying through the breeders on here.
