hi folks new to this site and tropical freshwater aquarium's just finished treating the tank for an ich outbreak been 6 days with no spots i put the carbon back in my fluval 305. my question is should i replace the carbon quicker then normal or is reg maintance still ok thxs

Yes, I'd probably do a couple of carbon sessions at 3 days each (3 days is about the most that carbon -ever- lasts for anything, lol) and then I'd go back to not having it in my filter at all. Carbon is chemical media and only really used for these special purposes like removing medications, tannins and such. It will house bacteria but is less than ideal at that job, so its better to go back to sponges, scrubbies or ceramics (the kinds of high-surface area things that will last really, really long times and/or be really cheap.) Most of us don't really want to spend the money to replace carbon every week unless there's some pressing need.
