Do they grow bigger than 2.5 inches? I’ve looked on web and in books which all suggest they only grow this big but I’m sure they’re bigger at the lfs. What size group should you get them in? Is 4 enough or will they still be too shy? Will they be ok in ph 7.6?

Thanks
Andy

Mine are about 3". 4 should be ok, as long as it's an even number. I keep 2 without any problems of being shy and so on.

I think that ph would be fine also, my ph isn't ever quite that high but is often 7.4 and they are grand.

African Glass Cat's grow to 3". They prefer a ph of 6.0 - 7.5 but 7.6 should be ok :) also 4 should be enough

These are great fish, I have three and they hang out and swim together all the time. They prefer to be in groups so the more the merrier. I am waiting for my LFS to get more and I will add at least 3 more. When fully grown they can be up to 4" but I think in most home aquaria about 3" is the max. I have seen a couple that were nearly 4.5"!! I have mine in a very high pH, about 8.2, and they are fine. If you buy locally the LFS should have a pH around yours, but just in case or if you buy online, take some extra time to acclimate the fish for a longer period of time.

should be fine because glass catfish hang out mid tank level. It may be a pain in the butt to feed them though.

Awesome fish, I have 4 and love them. I am planning to get more, since they do like to be in a big group. Like astroboy said, feeding is kind of a pain. The best thing that works for me is too feed @ night. I have a little desk lamp with a low watt blub, they know what that means and ill just drop the food, i normally change the food choice daily so they dont get bored with the same food. Good luck with them.

I have glass cats and cories, and they are not a problem with each other at all. I don't find the glass cats to be at all hard to feed, they go nuts when I add food. They like flake and they always grab any of the Bio-Blend pellets that drop by them.

Yep, I have 4 and mine eat anything i put in the tank. Also very peaceful and keep themselves to themselves.
