Hi and welcome to the forum :)

Why is the water yellow?

---------------------
Put a picture on the back of the tank. You can buy aquarium backings from pet shops or you can use coloured card, a plastic bin liner, newspaper or anything really. Just sticky tape it to the outside of the back of the tank.

Dark coloured backings encourage fish to show off colours better than light coloured backings. Don't use a black backing if you have black fish in the tank (eg: black mollies) because you can't see the fish. Dark green and dark blue show up fish well too.

---------------------
Add some tall plants to the back part of the tank. Narrow Vallis would work well for this. You can also use Ambulia or Hygrophila polysperma.

Hygrophila ruba/ rubra is a nice medium sized plant that looks good on the sides of the tanks.

Water Sprite (Ceratopteris thalictroides/ cornuta) is a nice floating plant that can also be planted in the gravel where it grows into a medium sized shrub. If you buy 1 plant and let it grow on the surface, it will quickly multiply and you can plant the new plants in the substrate.

---------------------
You can get round/ cylindrical sponges from some brands of internal power filters. These sponges have a hole through the centre of them and can be put over the intake strainer of your power filter. It helps to screen out course material and stops baby fish from being sucked up.
