Advice On A 20L Tank

iv got a 20L tank (aqua one 300) its got a PL compact light (11W) and im trying to grow dwarf hairgrass in it but it doesnt seem to be taking to well.. is there much point in me adding ferts to the tank when iv only got that 1 bulb (i cant add more light easily because of the hood.. how can i get my grass to grow nicley? ... any advice of what i could do?

the substrate is from a loacal steam (mud bacialy- its been boiled) so it should have most elements in it

If there's no Co2 in the tank then that will stop any plants from growing. Lack of nitrates will also stop it as will lack of light (I don't know much about lighting so not sureif yours in good enough I'm just saying from a general view) And increased temperature can increase plant growth so long as it isn't so high as to kill it.

You could get a lamp and aim that at the tank and have it close- it would help with the light and may also raise the temp. But it depends on if you've got fish in there as this could bother them.- I'm sorry if that sound stupid but from what i can tell it sounds like you just using the tank to grow the hair grass, not to put fish in there...and if I'm wrong i really do sounds stupid

its got 1 guppie 1 neon and 2 oto's at the moment its not fully stocked (afew more neons- i know its cruel to have one on its own but i dident want to push the cycle over and kill all the fish in there... its only temporarily and there will be afew more in there soon) as for lighting it came with it... i dont have CO2 in the tank although im thinking of getting easycarbo and seeing how that fairs also i might change the bulb (its been in there for ages)

You need to dose a little carbon and ferts mate, you pretty much have high light so without food they're gonna end up dying anyway, do you have any ferts or carbon suppliments?

no but i can easly pick some up... i was thinking flourish and flourish excell? ... do you think the bulb would need replacing... its been running since xmas (not constantly ofc)

I think your bulb will be ok, I'd get TPN+ and Flourish Excel. Buy a bottle of each like 250ml Excel and 500ml TPN+ as you'll be dosing double with TPN+ the amount of Excel.
