My tanks been set up for 1wk now. Two days ago i put some fish food in there, only a tiny bit. I done my first test today. These are the results

Amm - o.50
Nitrite - 5.0

I bought some ammonia today to do a fish-less cycle. Could anyone advise me what to do now e.g start the fish-less cycle.

Thanks
Ryan

Follow the add & wait method from that link above and you should be fine. Getting hold of some sponge and ceramic media from a mature filter to add to your new one will hugely speed up the cycling process. A week compared to 4 weeks. So is well worth it. Other than that, read through the pinned articles in this forum and the tropical chat one. Consider going for fast growing plants when your cycle has finished planted on 50% of your substrate. Helps loads with water quality and with reducing algae problems. Finally, spend they next few weeks researching what fish you want and post your ideas here for us to comment on. Once your cycle finishes you can completely stock your tank 100% straight away. Well done for choosing a fishless cycle and good luck.
