Hi i have a Fluval Vicenza 260L (70USG) filtered by a Fluval 305 External Filter.

My current occupants are...

2 x Large Angel fish
2 x Bolivian Rams
10 x Rummynose Tetras.

I plan to get

10 x more Rummynose
6 x Corydoras Sterbai
1 x Long Finned Bristlenose Plec
2 x more Bolivian Rams

The decor is a blue background 5 pieces of bogwood, pea gravel and a few pebbles.

I want to plant the tank right out

I was thinking of having these plants...

Giant Vallis
Vallis
Cabomba
Amazon Sword
Java Fern
Anubius
some grass type of carpet plant

If i buy these, will i need any special fertilisers or one of those C02 thingys? i'd prefer it if i could just plant them and let them grow, i have had success years ago with giant vallis and cabomba (about 12 years ago was the last time i had any decent plants) i tried some java fern and anubuis when i had Severums but they ate them all.

Is there any advice you could give me before i go plant shopping?

The sword might like some root tabs IIRC, and I believe most carpet plants need high light and/or co2. Really can't wait to see pics when you get all of this together.. :)

Oh yeh my lighting is 2 x T5 tubes, forgot to mention that!

I get a lot of Algae on the glass because my tank is right by my patio doors, never used to be a problem when i had plecs, hopefully when i get a bristlenose it will die down a bit cos I'm scraping weekly!

I've got x3 tanks & found that my plants started to really take off when I used a proper planted substrate beneath my gravel. It wasn't expensive. It was called tetraplant complete substrate.
I also used root tabs & have successfully grown various crypts, dwarf hairgrass & staurogyne repens.
They're all just using the standard lights that came with each tank

Heres a few before pics of my tank....its gonna be a while till i fill it up with plants tho :p

Thanks for the info, I tried and had no luck with Amazon Swords before, i never did anything special for them tho, just planted them and that was it, i have seen those c02 canister thingys for as cheap as £18.99 so i may get one of them, i'm assuming because of previous success that cabomba, giant vallis, Anubuis and Java Fern are easy to grow and need no special requirements? i ended up with tons of the stuff in the past, just by planting in normal sand/gravel, normal vallis and amazon sword used to just die off tho!
