Hi guys,

I have a fluval roma 90 that came with its standard lighting unit. I'm wanting to upgrade the lighting.

The easiest thing to do would be to buy an overhanging light unit and swap them over. However, my girlfriend doesnt like the look of the overhanging units. Plus there would be a worry that the cats might be able to reach into the tank and go fishing..

I've seen that the best lighting units seem to be L.E.D setups. There are tonnes of L.E.D strips available on Ebay that are waterproof and suitable for aquariums.

I was wondering, would i be able to buy several of these, wire them all up together and then stick them onto the existing light unit and see results? or will they not be strong enough for the plants?

thank you in advance

Not strong enough for plants im affraid. High powered leds are needed. Minimum of 3w per led.

Yea that looks ok. Have no experience with these myself but the write up on them sounds promising.
Whats your current lighting? T5s? T8s? And how many?
Do you dose ferts? Carbon? Co2?
