Adding Bio-spira

will it be ok to clean the filter cartridge one week after adding bio-spira to the tank? will most of the bacteria be on the cartridge or on the bio-wheel by then?

Why would you want to clean the filter after a week?

Does the filter have a prefilter pad? If not get or make one from some thin floss wadding. This can be rinsed or replaced when it gloops up & the rest of the filter stays stable.

but if i don't clean the gunk off every week, the bio-wheel slows down and processes less ammonia/nitrites (quite a bit of food goes up the filter intake, even though i'm not overfeeding. the cories just wait for the food to sink and some of it gets caught and sucked up the intake).
