Adding A 3Rd Oscar

Righto, so on sunday i'm picking up a Juwel Rio 400 Bowfront that comes with two Oscars. Both of which i have been told are about 6-7".

I currently have an Oscar who is perhaps just under 3", only just.

How do you reckon it would be if i were to add mine to this existing two-some. In a 400L tank.

If it isnt advisable to do so i can leave my oscar in his current home.

Just wanted some common opinion on this matter.

try it and see how it works out as at least you have a back up tank to move your oscar to. it may work but could go horribly wrong

I have tried adding Chops with Rusty both 6" at the time, nooooo way would Rusty accept Chops. When Minxy swapped tigger over for tinker & tailor, we had all 3 in my tank here for a couple of hours. No way would tinker and tailor accept Tigger, dispite Tiggers size both Tinker & Tailor were going for tigger at the same time. It was only because I had trained tinker & tailor to go to a corner (was handy gravel vaccing knowing they were both in the same corner) that we managed to keep them apart. It maybe be possible as you will obviously be moving the tank & new oscars together so the oscars will effectively be going into a new tank and adding Turk at the same time, but with Turk only being 3" I personally wouldnt risk it. Plus 3 is a bad number as the 2 that have lived together the longest will pick on the newcommer.

yeah thinking about it it will be like adding 3 new oscars into a new tank as im sure you will change the decor etc and with the move of the fish and reintroducing them again the smaller oscar could end up badly beaten

Just seen the add in the classifieds (jammy devil), a 4ft bow fronted tank is the 260 vision (basically a bow fronted rio 240), 260l not 400l the 5ft bowfronted one is the 450l.

If thats the case then definately I wouldnt try adding Turk, far too small for him to hide, I tried Rusty & Chops together in the 300 see if they got on for them to live together in one of the 400d's

Yes thats the tank. Got a little muddled when typing 400L, saw a 4 and couldnt remember if it was 4ft or 400L, i was being optimistic haha. Turk will stay put for now, atleast untill i can get a 6ft sorted. By then with feeding regimes hopefully i can slow down the new oscars a little and feed turk up lots to see if he can sort of catch up a little. I may try separting the two new ones for awhile also, don't know yet.

And yes, that tank was a jammy piece of luck in deed. One minute after she signed up and posted i was in like a shot from a rifle Way i see it, its about time i had some luck in that way on here, i see so many people doing so and always wondered when/if i'd get some

Well at least the oscars will have a good home with you. Personally I wouldnt seperate them you dont know if they will go back together again.
