I bought 2 Angelfish for my 240ltr tank and they have been in the tank at least 1 month probably more. They are both from the same shop - and same breeder so I'm told. I know it's just that one is more dominant but one is bigger and it chases the smaller one a bit and every so often he goes off his food a bit. Should I get another to disapate the aggression or just leave them? No harm has been done to the little one he just gets chased a bit. They stick together a fair bit too. I would buy from the same shop - and they will probably be from the same breeder too.

Thank you for your help,

Angels, in my experience, always do best in groups of 6+, but for that you would need a considerably larger aquarium. If you get a third and two of them pair off, the left over one will probably be killed.

Hi, I had two in the exact same situation as yourself. The smaller one eventually got bullied to death, if I could change things now I would of added more to try and even things out. If you're looking to make a pair you could always remove the rest once a pair has formed. :good:

3 is the worst number of cichlids to have. One always gets picked on in the end. It would be best to get a group and let them pair up. I had 3 festivums and they killed off one then I was left with 2 that did not like each that well. So I gave the mean one away and now have just one with my discus.

So keep one or get a group of 5.

I would feel bad getting rid of one, I really do love the little guy, and the big one they are such characters. I do however have another 240ltr so I could move him if problems persist and he starts getting properly damaged.

Thank you for the input guys.

The damage from persistent bullying is not always visible before it is too late. If you can more one to another suitable aquarium, I would recommend doing it now.
