Yeah I get that, I think that's pretty similar to my own attitude.
Strictly just me, but personally I'd die for my child but I'd be hesitant to lightly graze my elbow for a fish.

I have to agree with you to a degree, with my dogs, turtles and cats I have more emotional feelings than towards my fish. I have tetras and guppies so it wouldn't work naming each one. Most of them are hard to tell apart anyway. I spent part of my childhood growing up on a farm so in a way it is like being a farmer you try and take good care of your cows, chickens and pigs but you do not have an emotional connection to them unless you treat them like a pet. I do feel sorry when a fish dies and always wonder if I did something to cause it. I respect that others have more feelings toward their fish. When someone reports loosing a fish I feel sorry for them more than the fish.
