In short I have a nurafin testing kit (solution based) and a tetra 6 in 1 testing kit (ph strips) and my readings differ depending on which test kit I use.

Which is frustrating as I'm trying to pin point my PH levels as I'd like to get some dwarf neon rainbow fish. However in one reading the ph is too high (7.6) and in another the reading is 7.2 ?

I used my aquarium water for both tests.

Liquid based kits are more accurate.

The best of the liquid kits seems to be salifert.

Strips are notoriously bad.

Agree with Chris. Plus, what fish really need is -stable- pH, not necessarily pH at a particular number as long as they are in the general range. (although I'm not saying this from a personal knowledge of neon rainbows! have never had any!)
