Have attached the cycle file, it wont paste into a thread which is a PAIN.

A .doc file is probably located on your hard drive abih2005. Nobody else can read it. Why don't you try opening it on your own PC, copy it to the clipboard and then paste the contents right into your message. I'm not sure the formatting will survive the paste but you can easily preview your post and arrange things to suit yourself before you submit it.

Just wasted one hour of my life tryin to insert and format to no avail.

Ammonia and nitrites reading 0.00ppm after 12 hours, whoop whoop!!

2/5/10 0.00 0.00

So basically just got 0 on both ammonia and nitrites after 12 hours, have topped up again to get it up to 2ppm - will continue for the week to double check.

Not doing anything else to the table, the formatting just wont stay put!!!

If you keep getting nice drops down to double zeros for a week you will have a nicely cycled tank there.

I added 2ml, and got a reading of 8ppm this morning at 10am, seriously - what the blinding hell??!?!? The pipette was cleaner and the tubes were clean too!

Anyways, now - ammonia is 2ppm and nitrites 00pm.

Since last posted I've been testing ammonia and nitrites every 12 hours, getting steady readings of nothing in the mornings but ammonia is always 0.50 when tested in the evening after 12 hours... Which is a pain as nitrites are zero. Could my plants be contributing to this - my light broke so clearly they're not happy about that and look a tad droopy. Argh!

Help? Right, ammonia and nitrites are o.oopm, let's add 1ml ammonia and see what it says this evening in twelve hours....

PS - X-ray fish, suitable to start with?

Last night 8:00pm, added ammonia to bring it up to 2/4ppm (who can tell?!) - this morning I have a DOUBLE NEGATIVE!!! Have re-added and will test tonight :D

Are x-ray fish ok for starters?

X-ray fish are a beginner fish so yes :)

They live in brackish to soft water so they're very hardy. Although they apparently breed quite fast. They shoal and are friendly and good community fish so a good choice for the start.

I'd make a seperate thread on what you plan on stocking just to get the experience of other members because i Imagine you want more than just x-ray fish :p
