Well I've been watching a local for sale thread in a local fish forum for over a week. The seller was leaving the hobby and sold the tank already, and had a few weeks before the buyer comes to pick up the tank.(buyer is setting up a discus tank)
1st week he was selling 2 oscars(one 6 inch and one 8 inch) and a pleco(13 inches) for 10 bucks for all.
2nd week he changes his add to free.
3rd week he says he was going to put them down if nobody will take them :(
I quickly asked a good friend of mine to take the 13 inch pleco(had to take him out for dinner) but he cant home the 2 oscars since he has fish in there that will not work with a oscar.
Can't believe nobody will save these 2 fishes, they've been through alot from what I know; they had HiH decease a year ago and still has the scars to show it.
Can't believe with over 1000 members and nobody has the space for them :(
going to pick up the pleco this thursday, so ill say my good byes to the oscars while I'm there. I'll leave you with a pic of the 2 ......

The guy could just dump them off at the local fish store. Or you could talk to the local fish shop and see if they say yes then just drop them off. I know one of my shops takes in unwanted big fish. So there are ways to save them.

The market is over run with large oscars that need homes sadly. They are like big dogs. People get them as cute pups then they get to big and are too much work. So people dump them.

Where abouts are they? - not sure where you are from?

I knew I shouldnt have read this post  The trouble is people have fish from small, and they can live a long time circumstances change and things happen. I have lost count of the amount of pleco's I have taken in that have got too large for their tank. Thankfully I have managed to re-home most of them. The only option is to take them to a shop.

I'm located in Vancouver, Canada. I've called a few lfs and even the one I'm dealing with but they said they can't take them because of their size and scars. I wouldn't want to see these guys suffer in the hands of a lfs too! I've thinking if I should set up the left side of my kitchen sink to home them but I'm sure it won't be good for them!

Forget the sink. You can get very large plastic crates with lids very cheaply =make great emergency tanks till you find them a home.I kept my goldfish indoors in them last winter when it was freezing
