Ive had a pair of 12" albino clarias for about 3 weeks now, and how amaizing they are to watch!!!
I know they are tank busters and have them in a 4ft tank on their own at the moment, with a bundle of rocks and wood at the one end of the tank as there hide out, and the rest of the tank free for feeding and swimming. ive a 7ft by 2 ft tank linned up for the future as there new home.
on the first night of having them, i stayed up late watching them and was happy they'd settled in well.
when i came down in the morning i could only see the 1 cat and was hoping the other 1 was hidding in the gravel, but as i looked i realised the other was missing.
id read on the net of there ability to walk from pond to pond, as and when they needed to, in search of food or a new home, and MY clarais had seemed to gone walk about!!! :S
It wasnt in my middle room ( fish tank room) nor my back room, i found it at the far end of my kitchen floor by the door way, dried out, motionless, coverd in fluf and cobwebs!!!!!!! My eyes almost popped out!!!! I was gutted as it looked dead!!
I got the net and as i went to scoop it up and it wriggled, i washed it quickly and put it back in to its tank, and it swam off as if nothing had happend. the cat had escaped from a small gap in the lid, how mad was that!!!!!!!!!!
ive been feeding them chopped fish and worms they have both been so active and cool to watch, :shifty: with no escape exits availible any more. ;)

Oh my! What a very naughty fishy!! Think I'd have freaked. Not sure it would have survived in my house either. I have two cats of the furry kind, one of which is a very good hunter. :X
Glad he was ok though. Now I feel the need to go round and check all my lids are on properly. *doh*
Hugs,
P.
