PLEASE SEE LATER POST FOR UPDATE/COPYRIGHT

Hey

I work at a Yorkshire branch of P@H and after a weekend of trying to convince customers that plants are a good thing!! I have decided I want to make a "point of sale display". This will basically include information on the nitrogen cycle, WHY you should have plants in your tanks and also include pictures of planted tanks of different sizes to show that size doesn't matter when it comes to planting your tank and how beautiful they look.

I plan to use pictures from this forum- only the pictures of the tanks will be used along with a caption detailing the tanks size, names will not be used.

If anyone has a problem with me using their pictures please tell me before 3rd October and I will make sure they are not used :)

Thanks xx

PS I will post pictures of the display when it's finished.

instead of using them without permission - I would directly contact the member whose picture you intend to use and ask for their permission first.

+1. There are copyright issues here, however benign they appear.

Agreed, ask members directly for permission first, but for the record, I have no issues with you using any pictures of my tanks :good:

I would also like to reitterate my comment to you before, if you are seriously trying to improve the plant sales, and impress upon people how easy it can be to care for plants, then improving your plant selection is paramount. There are several species on sale as standard which aren't aquatic, and others which I would class as medium to hard in terms of their easiness to grow. It would make sense to sell plants which people are actually going to be successful at growing, otherwise, telling how good a planted tank is for their fish is a moot point: a rotting plant will pollute the water and produce more ammonia than it absorbs, etc.

Best of luck though hun, it's difficult to action change in a chain store where things are done as they've always been done, so if you can change some things then that's got to be better for fishkeepers in the area. :good:

We're trying to move sales away from the £1.99 plants and focus more on the bogwood/java rock plants in our aqauriums and the £3.99 plants with roots, which would be: Anubias, java fern (I love java fern it is amazing), and potted sword plants. we are getting some more christmas moss.

Thanks guys, I will begin emailing people. If anyone here would feel okay with me using theirs please can you send me a picture.

also i would veer away from lovely planted tanks which have co 2 and need a lot of upkeep, people getting plants and copying these tanks would result in failure and therefore go back to unplanted.

Thanks.

I am trying to PM people, but the forum won't let me send more than 2 or 3 within a period of time. Would I be better of creating a new thread asking people to post pics on there? Then I'll get what I need :)

seems a much easier route!

I'm sorry but this should have been passed by a mod first before taking pics from the forum. As mentioned previously you 'need' to get permission from the photo's owner or it is a breach of copyright and this is frowned upon on this forum as it is privately run. Please ensure you do get permission for the photo's. There maybe a call to the branch manager regarding this topic.

I haven't taken any photos from the forum that I havent already had permission to take. I am going to make a new thread highlighting my intentions and that by posting a photo onto the thread you are giving permission for the photo to be used- thus avoiding copyright issues :)
