As the title suggests I may be barking up the wrong tree here but I thought I would be a little unconventional and see if this gets me anywhere.

I have been unemployed since new years day this year and have had no luck in finding a job yet so here is where I would like people to help me out.

The jobs I am mainly looking at are cartography positions in the UK but am willing to do nearly any job going. This is because i want to do something apart from job searching. I would relocate for the job too and I would really appreciate it if people knew of any permanent jobs going which i could apply for and hopefully get.

I will have to work out a way to say thanks (bottle of your favourite tipple maybe) to whoever gives me the lead to my new job. I thank you all in advance for the help I hope you will be able to give me.

sounds silly but have you considered agency work for a bit?

its a great way to get your foot in the door and earn a bit of cash at the same time :)

Where abouts are you from?

I use to use Champion Recruitment in Banbury, never it took the 3 hours to find me a full 40hr week job which lasted 6 months, in that time i found my new job at royal mail.

there are alot of companies using agencies these days as they can say what days the staff are required instead of using them every day and can save a bit of cash.

if you are near Leicester then task force agency can get you in at Biffa on the bins its not an easy job, but you get every monday off :hyper: every week becomes a bank holiday :hyper: :hyper:

i do think that agencies are a decent way of getting your foot in the door and its better than sitting at home as you can earn a bit of cash while still looking for something more secure and suitable.

good luck with the job hunt :good:

Currently based in Peterborough and I have submitted cvs to countless agencies with no luck so far, 90% of the immediate start is controlled by agencies staffed with polish agents who just ignore me for as long as they can before speaking in broken English to say no jobs are available.

I would like to add I have nothing against foreign workers but just highlighting the problems I constantly face.

Cheers for the leads and I shall contact those agencies shortly to see what they can do. In the mean time keep up the suggestions please.

The best tip in finding a job is to do volunteering work - it shows willingness and that you aren't completely lazy. Also it also might be a simple point but DO a covering letter. My boyfriends flatmate has been unemployed almost 2 years; for about 20months of that he didn't have a covering letter; my boyfriend did him one and now he has a decent job.
