Hi i joined today for a specific reason- i asked my dad to buy me an algae eater and he got me one but a little surprise came with it accidently-a baby fish. i have no idea what kind of fish it is and its about the size of the width of your index finger. I'm not going to put it in my tank yet because i have 2 female bettas and a male molly that get along great plus the new algae eater i got just now. I have a U.S. 10 gallon tank with a heater and filter. the only thing i can think of is to buy one of those safety nets for the new born fish. Any suggestions? and how do i feed it, and when should i put it with the others?

nevermind it died :(

A breeding net would work, I made a plastic floor to go in mine otherwise other fish would suck the fry through the net when they stopped on the floor. You could try feeding it finely crumpled flake or daphnia?

thanks for the help its dead but i got the net anyway just in case. also i good a new female betta to balnce the tank further!

in such a small tank you can expect to see quite a bit of aggression from the algae eater. although they are the best things to have to keep algae down they are territorial and need a 30 gal tank really
