I was wondering if a 70 gallon tank would be suitable  size for a comet goldfish and shubunkin, or if I should wait and see for a bigger tank? Also is 250 a good price for 70 gallon, filter, stand and lightening.... What happened is we had to down size because are 25 gallon tank broke, my mom knowing I loved fish clueless bought a comet being told it wouldnt grow any bigger, I did reaserch and had found out other wise. Not wanting to give it back knowing its fate I've been saving for a large tank, right now there in a 10 gallon tank (was in 2.5 gallon for like 2 weeks untill I convinced my mom otherwise). There still growing and very good at keeping water changes done and never over feed, since they where only a inch when got them but now know I need to upgrade soon.

Well they'd thrive in a tank larger than a 70 gallon, but its easy for them to get stunted in the 10 gallon so it should do.As for the 250 being a good price, id say its solid, My question is, is the tanks filtered cycled already?
Oh BTW Welcome to the forum!

Not sure... the owner has fish in there but I'm only interested in the tank which they said could go separate. But cant you use that stuff you buy from the store to help start beneficial bacteria growth  and add some live plants to help so not as big spike in ammonia?  Also they wont be stunted if did put them in 70 gallon tank right, because I want them to reach max size, if there still with me in 5 or so years I would happily get a pond because hopefully by then I could afford something like that.

:hi: to the forum

A 70 gallon tank would be about the minimum I would put those fish in, it will have to do if you can't get anything bigger. $250 is a reasonable price.

They hopefully won't become stunted in a tank of that size.

A lot of those bacteria in a bottle products don't work :/
Two that I know of that do, are: Dr. Tim's One and Only and Tetra's Safe Start.

If you were able to get some mature media from a friend or a nice LFS then that would help a lot in your cycle!
Using all of the filter media from your 10G would help a lot too!

If you don't want to harm your goldfish, you will need to do lots of water changes, to know when to do a water change you will need to buy a liquid testing kit that can test for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.
API makes a good one that isn't too expensive, its called: API Freshwater Master Test Kit.

Have a read of THIS and also THIS. Reading those links will help you and your fish a lot!

lol tetras safe start was the one I was planning to buy anyway XD, and thanks. I did research the cycle its just rather them be in the bigger tank sooner then later. Also the size I've been looking for is 85-90 gallons but its hard to find those cheap, its nothing to do with space its just hard to find in general since no petstore sell bigger then 60-65 gallons and hard to find second hand but still possible. I hate going lower then 80 really but it seemed to me a good price but still what and see if anything pops up in next few days. My comet was a feeder goldfish and been one of my healthiest fish I have ever had actually.

I acutely  decided to check the site again and found 90 gallon for 250 now thats better XD, Hopefully its still available, I emailed to double check also to make sure it comes with everything I need like tank, stand, filter, gravel, lightening. As the rest I can buy in free time and already have gravel vac anyway, of course will need to get a bigger one(can make do for few changes though till buy bigger one) if plan to clean every week XD.

Yep its still there so I'm going to jump on it but hopefully the other person interested doesn't get it first.

should be getting it this week, its nice enough even though my mom wants some wooden/nice stand XD I'm like its not like its ugly and the fish will love it.
heres a video of them in the 10 gallon at the moment will post them in there new tank once get it which will be funny looking for awile being small still.
