Hello, My dad has four oscar fish who are all babies. Today he and I noticed that they have little white dots all over their body. I think it's something called ich (well in the betta world thats what its called.) When I treat my bettas for ich I use something called bettazing it works well for my bettas but I don't think it would be safe for the oscars. I am using a heater and raising the temp to 85F right now. I dont have aquarisol or anything that is specialized to treat ich. The meds I have are Bettazing, Fungus eliminator, Maracyn 2, Melafix, Maroxy, and T.C. Capsuls. Is there anything I can do to treat this? There is no way of me getting to the store right now to pick up anything :(. Is there anything else I can use? Also what caused this in the oscars? How do I prevent it from happening again? Please Help!!!! :shout:

How long have you had the fish and in what size of tank? Stress is the main reason fish get ich and raising the temperature will quicken the life cycle and supposed to kill it. You need to kill it in the free swimming stage so you need something like rid-ick.
Keep the lights off when treating with the green meds.

I dont have any meds to treat ich yet. I can get some but it won't be until tomarrow :(. I am raising the temp I heard that is what will get them into free swimming. I dont have anything that I can use. Thanksfor your help.

OK, just relax if you can't get any meds today. I just got over ich (about 12 hours ago), and I know exactly how you feel. I had to deal with it in two tanks (90 gallon & betta), but enough about me... this is your problem. The main med I used ( I used two ick meds, but the first ran out.) was Wardley essentials Ick Away. It seemed to have worked very well (Third day of using it, no visible spots). Just keep a couple things about ick in mind: it will probably get worse before it gets better, and ick is incredibly easy to cure; you don't need to be more stressed than your fish! You're doing well with raising the temp, and I have also read (from wilder) that adding salt may help. (I didn't, I have scaless fish). Good luck.

It'd be handy to know what size tank they're in and what filtration they've got, as oscars are messy fish and need a lot of tank space even as babies. I take it your dad isn't going to keep all 4 together?
