P. joselimaianus should be 12 inches, P. sabaji should be 9.8 inches (L001 and L075 if that helps).

Also those sizes are SL rather than TL so don't include the caudal fin, apologies if thats already mentioned but i only skimmed the thread

It's exciting to hear that zebra plecs are indeed relatively small - my brother is absolutely obsessed with them for some reason, I don't know why. He also seems to have developed an interest in the ringlet/clown pleco.

Thank you for the advice - I'll keep this in mind when I'm looking for a sucker. I have a strong fondness for suckermouthed catfish, but I've heard some unpleasant stuff about the common pleco (which is what we owned before), and I've considered switching to the smaller, less aggressive ones. I've heard that bristlenose plecos are good for community aquariums, but I don't like how they look... *sigh*

L288 (brazilian Tiger) max 8" prefers the meaty side of food - wont eat algee to any degree likes munchin wood

spotted sail fin pleco i think it gets around 4 inches. L????? :D i think i spelled that wrong... i dont know the "L" # thingey soo, plzz edit me if u can

very good list it should help many people. :fish:

Gold Nugget Plecos grow to be about 7", yes? <img src="http://www.fishforums.net/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

I don't believe I saw them on the list, but it's late and I'm tired, so forgive me if they are on there somewhere.

There are 3 commonly available Golden Nugget's - they are not easily distinguished and unfortunately only one of the 3 stays at that size - the other get to around 16". unfortunately fish shops will label them up as the smaller ones to shift them - not necessarily knowing (or caring) if they will get huge
The smaller of the types of gold nugget is L81...well it bloody better be!

Peppermint Pleco (L30/31) seen differing reports about size ranging from 6-8inches but still falls into this category.

how about including price bands and lfs availability?

Example:

- PB: Hi/Med/Low/Budget
- LFS: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Order.
- Algae: Good eater, fair eater, hardly eats
- Substrate: Sand, Gravel, Large gravel ect...

Just some ideas. I'm going to try and get back a book I had recently which actually listed all know species of plecos up until 2005 which listed sizes and L's as well diet ect, the usual info but it seemed pretty accurate so if I can get it back, I'll see if there are any in there :D

If your on about the fish I think you are its more like 24 inches....

To the section MODS.....

Just wondering if this section can be tidied up a little, there is a wealth of excellent info here but seems to be spread over way to much. There are a few discrepancies on the original post about full grown sizes and other peoples suggestions haven't been added.

Just a thought, seems a shame beens it could potentially help alot of newcomers or new keepers of plecs :)

Panaque LDA-031

Orange spot panaque - 5"

I just returned my Royal L190 and purchased one of these for my 50g tank :)
