Ok so currently in my 29 gallon I have 6 skirt tetras, 4 corys, 2 german blue rams, and 1 african butterfly fish. My pleco was just recently rehomed :-( and I guess im trying to cope with losing a child  but I feel like im missing something. Any suggestions?

=( oh no my sucker fissssssh
annnd yes, that is a pretty boring tank, but pretty much the way i like it.

I am getting a 29 gal. I plan to put 1 pair of blue rams, 6 neon tetras, 6 harlequin rasboras, 5 cories, and 2 plecs. I dont think youre missing anything but you could put more fish if you wanted.

I think a pretty golden apple snail would fit in nicely. They're active, interesting and beautiful. Plus they work, can't go wrong with a critter who earns his keep! :p

I have never seen any shops around here with a GAS. Ive looked many times =(

The only problem Id have is if they reproduced, and I started to have a problem, I wouldnt be able to kill any snails. Id feel waaaaay too bad.

I hear ya (says the girl with 3 million bettas), but I doubt the cories would let that happen. Mmmm, snail eggs.

In all the time I had mine they never did anything cool like reproduce. They grew HUGE but then met their match with an evil plec.

Anyway,I'll step aside and let others give ya some ideas :)

I dunno either  But they're gorgeous! I forgot how much I loved having my mystery snails until I recently put a large turbo snail in my newly set up reef tank, he's just too cool!

I bought a trio of mystery snails when I got mine, and I had them in a 29 gallon too and they did quite well. It's amazing how fast they are, the second I dropped food in they would just fall off the wall and go to town eating  All I know is that they can get to the size of softballs, so five of those badboys in your tank might be a bit much when they get big (they do produce their fair share of waste! really! and they grow pretty fast) . I think one or two of the gold kind would be perfect in your tank.

Don't be scared to email a seller and ask for just a couple. They're usually more than happy to sell off site. OoH, I bet aquabid has some too!

!!

(now I want snails  )

eta, one guy has a trio of golden apple breeders for 6 bucks. I wonder if you can just remove the eggs, or juvies and grow them in a tupperware box type thing with a sponge filter, then sell them to your lfs :hey: Or just buy one and not worry about that at all

i was going to say some really colourful top dweller but can't really think of one that goes with african butterfly fish. lol bit tired today.

you can't get AS's my lfs sell them for 99p each. i just realised you live in the U.S.

:good:
