First issue: Red's not as active as he used to be. He just almost "sits" in one place, not doing anything all day. Or he'll sit in one of his "tubes" (one of those decorative structures for them to swim through) for hours so all you can see is the tips of his fins. He used to be fairly active, swimming around for a good portion of the day, but now it almost seems like he's depressed. He also has stopped making bubble nests...he used to make HUGE ones.

Is this normal? I've tried putting Betta Fix in, but it doesn't seem to do much to him...

Second Issue: Rainbow has become one spooky fish. He shoots across the tank at anything that comes anywhere near his bowl. He's also not looking that great...like he always keeps his fins thin. They aren't big to begin with, like he never really puffed out, even when flaring, so this is just making him look pitiful, nothing like the betta I fell in love with at the petstore. His spookiness also isn't helped by the fact that my friends, specifically the boys, find it hilarious that he shoots across the tank every time they "poke" him with their finger against the glass. I'm thinking it might be that his bowl is a concave cylinder, but I can't afford (nor do I have room in my dorm room the size of a shoebox atm) for something else to put him in until I *hopefully* move out this summer and get my big 10 Gallon tank from back home to put my neons in so he can have their hexagon tank that's bigger than what he's got now.

I'm not sure what to do in the meantime...any suggestions? I've tried Betta Fix with him too, but nothing's helping...

edit:: ok problem #2 has been solved...i borrowed a large unused tank off a friend to see if it helps him any...had to re-arrange my room to accomodate though lol

what size are/were their tanks? are they heated? are they eating normally? any sign of flicking? what are your water stats? that info should help a little with diagnosis.

just putting bettafix is going to magically solve all your problems (not meaning to sound harsh) as it just diluted tea tree oil, is anti bacterial, but if bacteria isn't the problem, or if its internal bacteria, bettafix won't do much (although it does help with fin regrowth)

Red's tank is a gallon. it's got 2 small plants and a floating thermometer. it's temperature is always "in the green", usually to the upper end of that spectrum. He still attacks his food when I feed him like it's his last meal. Water stats are normal, and his tank was cleaned within the past few days.

What is flicking?

Flicking is like spazzy movements, rubbing themselves on rocks and such, like they have an itch that they cant scratch. Do either of them have any unusual marks, fuzz, red streaking, swelling etc? What is ur exact temp? remember bettas like warm water 76 degrees F and up and will get lethargic and depressed if the water temp falls below that. If they're just bored and depressed try buying some new deco for the tank and switching things around to give them new places to explore, that should perk them up.
