Hi guys.

I am thinking of getting a Fluval Venezia 190 Corner Aquarium in the near future. Does anyone have any experience of these?.

I have read the fishless cycling links a number of times and i understand about the pros of that.

From reading peoples posts you all seem to know your stuff which i why i would like your opinions on stocking before i do anything.

The stocking i was thinking of would be
6 x Tiger barbs (as i gather they need to be kept in a largish shoal because of agression)
4 x Platys
4 x Zebra Danios
1 x Bristlenose plec
6 x Neon Tetra
4 X Rummynose Tetra

Also would be adding quite a few live plants, still to decide on which ones.
Does this seem a reasonable number of fish or too much?

You will not be overstocked with that.

I would consider raising the numbers in your shoals to at least six, with tiger barbs most people will probably suggest more than 6 (8 or more) to spread the aggression. Unless you're really set on them you may be better with a different fish as they may nip at some of the other fish in your stock. Pentazona barbs look quite similar and are harmless.

I have seen the Fluval Roma range, they look nice tanks, no personal experience though.

I have considerably more of a fish bioload than that in my juwel trigon 190 (with a fluval 305 and lots of plants), so I don't think you would be over stocked.

The fluval venezia 190 looks like a very nice tank, and i've never heard anyone have problems with them.

If you go for live plants and don't want to buy anything special for them, go for tough easy things like java fern and anubias, and buy high quality rooted ones like tropica grown from pets@home or bristall.

Otherwise, since your setting up the tank, make sure you use some sort of under substrate fertiliser and if you want dense plant growth at the back corner of the tank, you'll need to add a t5 power compact at the back (even though they have good lighting especially compared to the old juwel tanks, it's still not amazing).

Thanks for the suggestion, i have just looked up the pentazona Barb and that looks like a good replacement for the Tiger, as i have heard mixed reviews on the Tiger Barb, and i will most probably go with upping the shoals to 6 rummy and 6 zebra

Yeah it was a bit of a toss up between a fluval Venezia and Trigon 190, i think the Trigon is a smart looking setup. And as you say, the T5 is good lighting from what i have heard. Thanks for the suggestion ref fertiliser, and the link.

I have that tank, only had it a few weeks though.

Very happy with it and nice setup.

The pipes to the external filter are connected to the base unit (opted for the tan/chocolate colours as opposed to silver/black) and it all fits together well.

Looks great and gets my vote
