Hi there

SO after owning an old fluval edge which I converted into an open top Rimless Shrimp tank for cherries, they boomed and before i knew it, there was over 40 Shrimp from just 6 originals :hyper: Time for a new home

The Venue was a recently emptied 60 Litre Marina Tank (which was emptied into an 120Litre, post to follow soon).

Decided I wanted a dark tank with a Black background and black substrate. The results I am super impressed with. Will be dosing Flourish excel and TPN+ to boost the plant growth and maximise the Java moss's growing capabilities :good:

Please rate, offer opinions, say what you dont like

 I know about 10 of them are carrying aswell  thinking ill be sending them on and selling a few :good:

Thanks mate, good to be back, been working in US for 3 Months so been relying on my Mrs to look after the tanks, definatly owe her a shopping trip now though

100% water change and a good scrub. :good:

Yeah will be doing, just a pain in the #17##### on a 330 Litre, gonna take me ages with my 5 12litre buckets

Did a 50% the other day, doing another 50 litres today, will need to wait to the weekend to strip it down, going to offload some fish too :good:

Looking at getting rid of:
2 rummy nose in there (originally 8, don't know what happened to them, although they were a little on the small side)
10 Harlequin Rasboras - There going into the 25G with the cardinals and cories
8 Leopard Danios - Probably give them to LFS
5 Mollies (These aren't actually mine, I'm holding on to them for a friend whos away for 6 months, already lost one :hyper:

You went away for 3 months, that's what happened to them! Lol!

Scrub the glass and anything covered in algae before you do the water change. Nip to your local MA and ask for some old salt buckets (providing they do marine) as a member here was given some for free. :good:

Then buy my EX1200 from me ;)

Well my Mrs decided to keep the blinds open in the room, which of course has let all the sunlight in, which has led to the boom in green water. Decided to overhaul the tank now anyway, going to go with a black substrate, what would e better, black sand or black fine gravel. Ive used Unipac black gravel in this tank and really like it, would i be best using fine black gravel in the 75g minnnt? plant roots would be able to work there way through it better wouldnt they? or black sand? the gravel is super fine anyway :look:

The new Unipac Limpopo has a lot more black in it than the older stuff so that would be a great choice imo. But I have just swapped the older Limpopo (more grey) in my Vicenza 180 for Cat Litter and I think I have made the right choice. It has brightened the tank up no end and seems to suit the whole theme of the tank much better.

Had Tesco cat litter for my last shrimps tank, was really good, but plants were a pain to keep rooted with my nosey Apple snail, and if I put it into the 75g I know my Plecs would destroy my aquascape

What's that thing that looks like an onion on its side in one of the pictures?
