Hi
so went out most of yesterday, and got back to a house with no electricity. When it eventually came back on, it had been off for 10 hours. The tank temp didn't drop by more than a couple of degs, not worried by that.

Of course all this would happen 24 hours after i'd just added more fish.I'd done a 25% w.change the day before,

Will any of the bacteria remain, or indeed been lost? As i'm planted, i presume the plants will be filtering for me.Don't really know what percentage of the nitrogen cycle is handled by the filter.

Thoughts/suggestions?

Stu

the bacteria are quite slow to die off. I believe its in the region of 10% over 24 hours, at the most. So for 10 hours, the amount should be negligible... however with extra fish that's a new dimension - I'd do a couple of water changes today and tomorrow just to be sure... take it you don't have a test kit?

What do you reckon 25% change

lol. I'd do 50%. Can't hurt can it? Maybe do 25% tomorrow. Leave off feeding til tomorrow too :good:

50% oh man, i thought those days were behind me. You got round to tying down that tiny bit of Anubias yet, or is it still floating around like in the last photo?

haha still floating, but its not alone - 2 others floating with it. I ordered ~£38 of plants from planted tanks, they'll be posted out today so I should get them tomorrow or Thursday, that's when I'll be doing em. The bit of wood I wanna tie it to is at the bottom of the pile, so I'm waiting til I gotta take the piece on top of it out before I sort it lol. Might sound daft but what's the point in taking out the wood and tying plants to it, only to have to do the same thing a week later?!

Cool.you should def enter TOTM again. There wasn't too much between you and 2docs.plus between me,you and SBS i reckon we split the planted vote.

I reckon so lol ;) I'll def enter again, but going to give the new plants time to settle in first, maybe Sept comp. Will see how it goes!
