Setting up my water system and wondered if anyone has 2 DI pods after the RO? and why.

For tropicals there is not much point in DI. I have a carbon post filter, probably not needed but I also use it for drinking & coffee (and I have a box of them in the garage ;) )

It will be used for keeping and breeding soft water fish.

RO filters will easily reduce hardness to less than one degree. There is no need to go lower. DI filters are not worth the expense

I run a small system with 3 modules- carbon->RO-> DI. I is a 75 GPD membrane and the unit cost me about $125 delivered when I bought it. We got a second one about 8 years later and the price had gone up to about $135 + shipping.

I mix my pure water 11/9 with my tap which is soft and neutral. The tank is at 6.0 and TDS in t the 60 ppm range. It has been as low as 4.2 pH and TDS in the low 20s in the past.

I have also used the unit to batch water used in simulating the rainy season.
