Urgent! Discus not eating and pale

True. Same for Angelfish. If they don't get it after 2 or 3 tries? They never get it. Also- that huge aquarium? Has dozens of overly thin Discus, and I know that look well. No doubt each one of those was placed full grown in that Aquarium and it must be a case of them being replaced all the time...

Urgent! Discus not eating and pale

Exactly..massive water changes..yet soft water is very important and no substrate. "But Discus swim over sand in nature"..yeah,and 100% water changes ever second. Or..a million gallons per fish. Big water changes and sanitary aquariums are the only way to keep them for years healthy. I've seen...

Urgent! Discus not eating and pale

That Fish vet I posted on white feces? I asked her what about Discus? She told me "Discus are great at hiding what ails them. Once they show how sick they are? Its usually too late to do anything" They die on her and she just does not keep them anymore. Same as me. I don't want to keep them in...

    Question about Java Moss Prep

What you want to do is tie it down and MAKE SURE..you've spread it thinly as best you can. Find a driftwood if you can...that is flatish?..and spread the moss on that while tying it down with spirals of string. You want light and water flow to get to as much of the moss as possible. I've had...

If my tiger lotus bulb floats is it dead?

I planted a bulb that came with the top broken off over a year ago and it just disappeared!.lol..must have rotted. The top has never gotten much size and incredibly, twice has died to almost nothing..then made a mild comeback. I need to order another that I hope will come healthy for my $8.

    tropica soil

Those are for plant tanks. Not really for fish tanks with plants. I think, any good potting soil layed an inch or so thick with a layer of gravel about an inch or even two, over it would do fine. In plant only tanks and no fish that root deeply. No Geophagus!

    Asian Water Fern Propagating

Usually that pup will continue to grow larger..but the leaf its on will slowly start to die off. Either you can remove the pup by then..or it breaks off anyways.

Best plants to glue to driftwood

Anubias among the above are the least killable if you get A.barteri or coffeefolia or "Nana". The last stays very small in leaf and takes years to make a fistsized clump. I like to tie AND glue. The tie holds the plant tight while the glue hardens. The glue only? Sometimes gravity undoes what...

Stan's freshwater 240 gallon extravaganza. Trials and tribulations of a sunlit aquarium

True,in winter,it can get cold..so the heater is watched to make sure it keeps up. In summer I keep the ceiling fan going all day. In a heatwave all night also. It's never gone above 28C or 85F, And the coldest was around 72f 22C,my fault I probably jogged the heater in cleaning it one time in...

Stan's freshwater 240 gallon extravaganza. Trials and tribulations of a sunlit aquarium

Keep in mind...its a FISH tank with plants. I like to see the fish in the blend of sunlight and gro lux...they seem to enjoy even that filtered sun.

Stan's freshwater 240 gallon extravaganza. Trials and tribulations of a sunlit aquarium

Algae can get out of hand..so far,I've mastered hair algae and got the others down to small spots here..and some on plant leaves of slow growers. One thing is...full window sun in winter is fine...but around late May,I now use sheer curtains. Since the tank is big,I just don't plant up the whole...

Stan's freshwater 240 gallon extravaganza. Trials and tribulations of a sunlit aquarium

Bad news- the male Angel got stuck between a rock and the glass and behind the filter. I got him out in the morning...but he was wedged so tight,I don't think he could breathe. After getting him out of that..he just laid on his side and didn't look like his eyes were seeing anything. He always...

Stan's freshwater 240 gallon extravaganza. Trials and tribulations of a sunlit aquarium

The Star Grass is getting thinner and thinner..that female Rainbow is always nipping at it. I also had really slowed down on dosing iron. Plants were looking plenty green,Moss was thriving...but I did get more Iron to see if some plants like Tiger Lotus could get out of its funk and also push...

What is the best Bucephalandra species overall?

Ok,that sounds good. Not many articles on the net..I think none-lol,that have that "This is the best Buce around" message. It's just how to grow this one..or a mention of it in a show tank. Like that. Thanks,I can now look into those. My Anubias is blooming..but their blooms have little color...

Is your dream a fishroom of breeder tanks or exhibition tanks?

Plus..a indoor pond. I've done it. If you have the room?..a 10x 4x 18" deep or even less. When you sit on the floor and look over the edge..its like a little river..with pump pushing the water along. But,useless for breeding really unless its a one species pond..and I went for show.. a mix of fish.

Is your dream a fishroom of breeder tanks or exhibition tanks?

I liked to breed fish back when..raise and trade for credit. But,I ALWAYS prefered the exhibit tank room of look, feed, and clean. Mostly sit and look. I see many fishrooms on youtube most are more one than the other. You?
