I decided not to risk it - and went with normal round sand.     There were just too many conflicting reports for all dark sands :(   Wasn't prepared to risk the barbels for colour.  

We now have a nitrite reading of 0.5 so something is going on in there :)

I am guessing the nitrate is actually coming from the Dry Salts I am adding, the clue is in the name NPK - nitrate, phosphate and potassium doh   Aaron

JOURNAL POST   Not a lot going on over the last few days.   It is now just over 2 weeks until we will start setting up the tank which is exciting.   Been out today and bought a load of power timers, extensions leads and a big plastic bucket, yawn!   :)

I love the look of it.  Been looking at that Unipac stuff.  They colour the black stuff which is putting me off a little bit.   I really like the way that the black sand brings out the colours of the fish though.   I really want something keeps my planned Panda Cory very happy   Aaron :)
