How do you plant stem plants without loosing your temper?

OK, I just repositioned the plants in question, and they WERE a bit easier to plant now that there's some more substrate in the tank. I really didn't have to add much, either. I guess I didn't have to drive and get another bag of Flourite after all...

    A Beginner's Shrimp Journal

Baby shrimp keep showing up, even though I rarely see the adult females! I managed to take a few decent pics just now. Bleepity algae on the glass usually gets in the way...

How do you plant stem plants without loosing your temper?

They DO make things look SIMPLE!! I wonder how many takes they shoot before they get usable clips? ;-)

    What are you doing today?

The problem was the pads wouldn't slide into the bracket. The ends were a smidge too long. Thankfully the caliper was the easy part.

How do you plant stem plants without loosing your temper?

Picked up another bag of Flourite. We'll see if that helps. Need to rinse it all first, before it starts getting super cold... today it was in the upper 70s!!

    What are you doing today?

Well THAT isn't very nice! I think it's pretty interesting!! Today we did the front/passenger brake pads on my Crown Vic. The driver side was a hassle because the pads didn't fit (had to grind them down), but they fit fine this time. I think perhaps during the car's 16 year life a caliper...

Hmmmm, that "anchor" idea makes sense! I think I was way too stressed to even remotely think of that at the time!

How do you plant stem plants without loosing your temper?

I WAS going to add some rocks to keep them down, but the water clouded up so much, I couldn't see where to place them, either!

How do you plant stem plants without loosing your temper?

OK... so... I bought my first live aquarium plant about a year ago. Like most people I started off EASY, with Java ferns and anubias. About 80% of those Javas ended up infected with little green balls that no forum seems to be able to ID. The anubias did well but now bore the daylights out of...

What's this floaty stuff that looks like dust or fibers?

UPDATE - the little thingies appear to be GONE! In fact, there are also fewer seed shrimp. Alas... I am having an algae problem, too... I thought shrimp ate algae!

    What are you doing today?

Today picked up a wheel I had a snow tire mounted onto, then delivered some 1990s Jeep dealer parts books to a friend, then headed toward my favorite fish store then my phone told me they are CLOSED on Tuesdays, after driving about 45 minutes. At least it was EAST, which was the direction I had...

HELP Fluval Kit Light Capability Question

Wellp, in the end, I decided to go LOW LIGHT with this tank. I simply did NOT like that kit light. Too blue for me, and just too bright. Shame, because it is rather nice. Maybe if it had some red LEDs along with the white and blue... Maybe I'll try to sell the light to recoup some of the kit's...

HELP Fluval Kit Light Capability Question

Sounds like it could be bright enough for higher need plants then? I did read that this kit does indeed come with a brighter light than the betta version. That's why I need to know its capability before adding plants. I just don't want to kill off what I move into it.

What type of "outdoor fish" are these?

A FB group also thinks Killifish. Some of what is on that book page does make sense, like the sand in their habitat. The shore of that lake is sandy.

HELP Fluval Kit Light Capability Question

HI all I bit the bullet and picked up a Fluval Ebi Shrimp tank/kit. Long story short, I need to know what the included light is capable of. It can't be dimmed, so I am stuck with ON/OFF (and blue). According to the info PDF on their website, the specs are: The tank is 2.6 gallons and 12"...

What type of "outdoor fish" are these?

Can anyone ID these "outdoor fish"? I see them in a lake/pond in central-eastern Massachusetts. They are maybe a few inches max, and seem to hang out at the shore line when the sun is out.

Is this filter's intake too large for a shrimp tank?

OK, so here's an update... I looked at the Aqueon site and noticed that all the larger versions of this filter can have the "guts" removed from the outer "casing". So I looked at mine, and saw the same opening that the instructions referred to in the larger ones that help separate the two...

What's this floaty stuff that looks like dust or fibers?

I should explain there are indeed those swimmy seed shrimp in there, but those tiny things that look like straight lines are what I am referring to. Let me go look... OK, so I THOUGHT they were NOT moving on their own. Then I got the bright idea to get my loupe and used it to look at them...

Is this filter's intake too large for a shrimp tank?

Thing is, last I looked, trying to add it to the inside of this one is impossible. The impeller looks like it is very close to the intake. I picked up something new to try today, so I'll take pics just for the record when I give it a try.

Is this filter's intake too large for a shrimp tank?

yeah, I have been looking at the HOB styles... I don't have a lot of space, and the tank isn't that large, so I may try one of the less expensive types first, adding a pre-filter. I just liked the idea of being able to tuck this internal one into a corner and not having to listen to bubbles...
