Led Vs T5? Lighting For New Project

Yeah it's an old Clear Seal consort hood, Just can't figure out how I'm going to cram them in!   I considered going lidless (well - i got a quote from a local aquarium manufacturer for some glass sliding covers) - and I was going to use a light rig, but like you said, I can't find one that is...

Led Vs T5? Lighting For New Project

Anybody had any experience with these? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hagen-Twin-Light-Electronic-Starter/dp/B0031J9G8Y   I've calculated my tank size to be around 20 uk gallons, so if I went 2watt per gallon, I'd require around 40watts. Closest I can get is 2x24w T5's.   This seems to be the cheapest...

Led Vs T5? Lighting For New Project

Think a Hagen GLO double ballast is the best bet then.   Next question is how to mount them to a metal hood?

Led Vs T5? Lighting For New Project

I don't think i've got quite enough expertise to build my own, or tools for that matter, but I have seen that chaps videos before.   If I went for T5 - Would watt would I be looking for? Is 2-4w per gallon still the norm?

Led Vs T5? Lighting For New Project

Hi guys! Ive recently purchased a second hand tank 30" x 15" x 12" and I'm going to attempt a low tech planted tank to grow moss, anubis, crypts etc. I'm also on a budget, i've got an internal filter, pump etc, so it's just a case of lights, substrate and stocking of plants and fish (Rummy...

    New Tank Suggestions...

I do like the look of the Aqua One ranges, I have absolutely no experience with overhead filter systems though, any real cons? I have found a fairly tasty Aqua One 500 with stand for £80 on Gumtree.

    New Tank Suggestions...

I wouldn't be up for it personally, I have very few tools/DIY skills. But I have a friend who may be interested..

    New Tank Suggestions...

Nice! A little over budget, but I like it! I completely forgot aquarist classified.. Are there any brands that I should completely avoid in terms of quality?

    New Tank Suggestions...

Sorry, I am being useless! I have room for a 3ft tank, but 2ft or smaller would be more sensible. Width and height aren't really restricted.

    New Tank Suggestions...

I'm open to suggestions, I fancy something fairly tall though.. I've been looking in the local papers and have found nothing of real interest so far. Also, I'm without a car, and so pick-ups are somewhat impossible unless they're within a few miles.

    New Tank Suggestions...

Does anybody have any suggestions for a tank (fairly small) + stand for a budget of around £150-£200? I fancy building a planted tank with a school of small fish. The only tank I have managed to find on this budget so far is the Aquaone Aquastart range.

    White Spot?

Lost my Honey Gourami overnight. Any advice would be really helpful, no idea what's going on. None of my other fish are showing symptoms yet.

    White Spot?

Ammonia & Nitrite both at zero using API liquid test kit, Nitrates at a healthy level (weekly water change just completed). My Honey Gourami has become a little lethargic, with small sugar grain like white lumps on his fins, also his fins have become fully flared and seems a little spikier than...

    10G Tropical Fish Tank

With the current level of ammonia in the tank, a large water change wouldn't have an adverse effect on the fish, It would make the water quality better. A water change of at least 50% if not more is advisable to get the Ammonia levels down. As you only have 1 Danio in your tank, i'm not sure...

    10G Tropical Fish Tank

Firstly, I would suggest you purchase a Freshwater Master Test Kit, they are around £20 on eBay. Liquid tests are considered to be more accurate than test strips, and 1 kit tests for all the important parameters. Also, 1 kit will last you a long time. As for your cycling queries; try and get...

    What Fish Should I Get?

I did find this, when I was stocking. Although it isn't the most detailed. Input a fish your interested in, for example, Honey Gourami, and it will list suitable tank mates. Nothing to do with the size of your tank though, so keep that in mind...

2 X Black Moor Goldfish - Free To A Good Home

If I can't find somebody to take them for free, I will donate them to my LFS. Had them for around 3/4 months, one's a little larger (3") than the other (2") Purchased them on some bad advice from my LFS, my tank isn't big enough. I know they're not tropical or anything, but I was just...
