    Another "new" Adventure

I also had a rough time for eco complete. Didn't seem to help my plants and was a pain to work with. Can't wait to see pics on Tuesday!

Who Has Left Fish Keeping And Come Back?

I tend to be in it for a couple years then sell it all only to start it back up again a year later. I gotta start just keeping my equipment, because I can't stay away from it for long!

    Fish Bowl

I'll have to keep my eye out for a nice one! I've been debating on whether or not I wanted another one, but since I have the space...    When I originally filled it up it came to around 11.5 gallons when filled to the very top I believe. So should be around 9 or 10 with where the water level...

    Another "new" Adventure

I've done it that way on multiple tanks and have never had a problem! Someone else may have a better method though. Good luck with your plecs!

    Another "new" Adventure

Can't help with anything else, but I've used the playsand multiple times. It's a huge pain but the way I cleaned it was to fill a large bucket half full with sand and continuously fill with water and then dump it. I'd also take large sticks and stir the sand to make sure most everything was out...

    Fish Bowl

Okay, well technically it's a plant bowl right now. A 10 gallon plant bowl.    A few months back I came across this huge bowl at a home decor place, and naturally my initial reaction was "how can I use this as an aquarium?" After my first attempt failed, I'm embarrassed to say I let the whole...

    Tank Revival

Thanks! This was very helpful! Are there any fixtures you'd suggest instead? Ideally I'd like to be able to grow low to medium light plants fairly easily. It is a 20 gallon long, so not much depth on the tank.

    Sap Question

Not sure how many people on here keep South Americans, but thought I'd ask. How timid do you find them? A couple years back I actually set a 60 gallon up for them, and planned on keeping a small group of 6 since I've heard they typically do better together and are a lot less shy. Long story...

    Tank Revival

Thanks! And yes, it's a 30" long tank. I'll certainly be keeping the LED light saved, but might take another look into T5s. Any brand fixture you would recommend? I've heard negative things about Aqueon, although I don't have any actual experience with them.      T5s are actually what I had on...

    Tank Revival

Haven't been on here in a while! I tore down the last of my tanks nearly... a year ago I think? Well, I bought a 20 gallon last night, since I can never stand to stay away from tanks for long. Not sure on what specific plants I plan on doing yet, but won't be doing anything that needs real high...

What Type Of Rock Is This And Where Can I Buy It?

That looks like plain old holey rock to me. Which is great for cichlids, except in the last few years the price has skyrocketed and it'll cost you big time! Our 120 gallon cichlid tank was full of it years back, but now it's just too expensive!

    Stocking Suggestion?

I would work on what you have before adding anything... Honestly I would take the barbs out completely. I know that isn't what you want to hear, but personally, they simply don't work. I also prefer them in a bit larger tank. You could upgrade. If you switched to a thirty gallon, you could get a...

    Can't Find A Straight Answer

You can pick up a hydrometer pretty cheap at most pet stores. :) I can't wait to get started on this tank! While I've helped with salt tanks, I've never had one of my own. This will be my first time venturing outside freshwater!

    Can't Find A Straight Answer

1.003 is actually a very low salinity. I'm not even sure it could be considered "brackish." There's a pinned thread somewhere over in the plant section on brackish plants. Vals, java fern, java moss, banana plant, hornwort and glosso are some, and there are a couple more. For once I'm doing a...

    Can't Find A Straight Answer

Alright, thanks! Has anyone had them in a salinity of around 1.003? I know it's on the low side for F8s, but I'm also trying to do all live plants so I'm meeting in the middle!

    Can't Find A Straight Answer

Stiphodon Atropurpureus  Are they freshwater? Are they brackish? I'm seeing both when I try to find an answer. I'm looking into different gobies to go with a F8 puffer other then BBGs, but can't figure out about this particular one.

    Adding A Second Pleco

I'll add that they are very messy fish, and they will make it much harder to keep your water quality right for everyone else. There are lots of other types of plecs you can have though. Bristlenose and Rubberlip are two you could have that are pretty commonly available!

What To Add To My 200L Tropical Tank

Your tank already seems pretty full to me. But that's coming from someone who always understocks, so don't take it from me! I had Bolivian Rams and loved them in my 55 community, so +1 on those. Very fun fish to watch and can be pretty colorful in the right water.

    Snail Pest Control?

Yoyo loaches are also great for snail control. They cleared my 55 gallon of snails. Unfortunately they are quite boisterous and need to be in groups. Assassins are always my first choice. They are great for cleanup and are always an interesting addition to a tank. :)

    Snail Pest Control?

+1 on that. Not sure if any lobster will mix with your fish. As far as I'm aware they are likely to prey on fish, but I could be wrong... I say the lettuce/cucumber trick or assassin snails are your options.
