    Ammonia Testing

I never thought of this, I'll give this a try as it makes my other tank look so messy with all the roots lifting out. I'll have to do this in the puffer tank too as I got some chunky purple glass gravel, looks real pretty but it's not user friendly! Thanks for the help, hopefully in a few...

    Ammonia Testing

Thanks @Naughts it's so odd because the day before the test was fine and I had just done a water change, I'd estimate approx 50% and then the day after the test changed slightly. The only thing I can think of is I put a few bloodworms in and the day before brine shrimp (both frozen) and I...

    Ammonia Testing

You can see it slightly at the 1min mark but barely there and then it appears a bit more after. I said 1-2 mins as it was getting darker as I was trying to get a picture after one min, it was not focusing for me so by the time the photo did take I'd say it was more towards 2 mins+ after leaving...

    Ammonia Testing

I'll try it and see how we get on. My other tank is due a clean and water change tomorrow which is good timing. Not sure, some say they will be fine, some say not. I will keep an eye on them and if I notice they appear unhappy I'll act on it.

    Ammonia Testing

No everything is new although I do have two sponges in my other tank, I'd need to check if they fit and I could may swap them over? I did post that my puffers were not eating the other day but they are now, and go crazy for blood worms.

    Ammonia Testing

Hi Amy, yes I have been testing regularly Nitrate is between 0 - 10, Nitrite is 0. Small tank 14L and two pea puffers who appear to be doing well. It has been running just over a week and has been set up with water from a tank running for approx 8 months and has been treated with bacteria and...

    Ammonia Testing

I am using testing strips and when I remove from the water, you are checking the little square material to see if it changes colour. A darker greeny blue colour indicates urgent action required and a slight yellow tinge suggest you are safe. My confusion is, when I pull it out the water it is...

    Dwarf Cichlid Help please

Based on what you have just said this fish above had just had tiny fry and then she did go very pale yellow (I actually thought she was sick) but then she turned bright yellow again and had another round of fry so I am 99% certain she is the female now

    Dwarf Cichlid Help please

Really pretty, did you see my female fish? I assume she is female as she was very protective of her babies and would chase what i believed to be the male away from them. She has zero blue in her all yellow and black. I feel confused and now wondering if the one that died was maybe the female 🤦‍♀️

    Dwarf Cichlid Help please

I think you are right and it is a Apistogramma cacatuoides cockatoo. She is certainly a lot larger than the new blue one. If the blue one turns out to be female, I will ask to exchange as I'd prefer a male 🐠.. My old pair were from the same tank and so I would guess they were both cockatoo...

    Dwarf Cichlid Help please

That's ok :) it is easily done when a few people start commenting. I thought it was initially but it isn't. He is a borellii. Not sure if they have any other names but he is basically blue with yellow fins and shiny sparkly face. Really pretty looking.

    Dwarf Cichlid Help please

Hi @anewbie I think someone else has commented on my thread about their Opal. Just to reassure, I only lost one male and I now know what my new blue fish is. Blue fish aka sparkly spike has settled in and he a lot more present in the tank now 😄

    Dwarf Pufferfish not eating

I have snails in my other tank (lots of them), they crept in on a plant most likely. I have no idea what breed they are but do you think I could transfer some over? Can't say I am a fan of the pests!

    Dwarf Pufferfish not eating

They are eating now and swimming around. I'll keep checking the water and get them some snails. Thank you

    Dwarf Pufferfish not eating

I had to set up an emergency tank (not related to the Pufferfish) so used water from my tank that's been running for 8 months. I checked all the water and as it was testing fine, I got the Pufferfish. I checked all of this with the store and they said it would be fine.

    Dwarf Pufferfish not eating

Hey, I got two dwarf Pufferfish on Saturday and it was suggested to feed today and let them settle in. I have popped half a cube of frozen brine shrimp in this morning and the pair of them are not interested whatsoever. They are both still resting and not properly up and about. I'm learning...
