    Mid-tank swimmers?

I think I already know the answer to this, which will be, "Don't add to your stocking," but I thought I would ask. I have a 145 litre tank, a little cory army, 1 bristlenose pleco, and a pair of electric blue acaras. All get on, excuse the pun, swimmingly. But all fish are all always at the...

Just brought home a male redhump eartheater!

He's LOVELY! And he must be relieved to be shot of the bullies. He has a very noble looking face, like a French aristocrat.

    Acara or Green Terror

Just seen this thread - what did you end up doing with the terrors? I really really want once but only have a 145 litre tank and so am after an acara. If you kept the terrors, how big have they got?

    Which Cichlids to Choose?

Just the one blue acara, or could a 145 litre tank cope with 2? There would be no other tankmates except perhaps some corys further down the line.

Why are all my fish staying at the surface?

Your nitrite should be 0. I had exactly the same problem and went out and bought an air pump, but it turned out to be a nitrite spike and I came so close to losing them all. Keep testing your water and performing water changes if there is nitrite present. Good luck!

    Which Cichlids to Choose?

Thank you - I think I have made my mind up! I will get a single electric blue acara :) Could I now trouble you for advice about decor and environment? As a reminder my tank is 145 litres; Height 18 inches; Width 15 inches; Length 31 inches. I have completely cleared it out so am starting...

    Which Cichlids to Choose?

The blue acara! What a lovely fish! My favourite so far... Would I only get one for a a 145 litre tank? Or do they need company?

    Which Cichlids to Choose?

This is brilliant - thank you so much! An update to my tank is that I now have nothing, so can start completely from afresh without worrying about the gouramis, corys and pleco (who have all gone to a good home). I shall browse your recommendations with a beer tonight!

    Which Cichlids to Choose?

Hi - there are 2 big pieces of mopani wood in there at the moment which are lowering the pH - they would go. In fact, I should clear it all out and then re-post the parameters, I suppose... Dimensions are: Height 18 inches; Width 15 inches; Length 31 inches. I'll have a look at the ones you...

    Which Cichlids to Choose?

I am deep-cleaning my 145 litre tank this weekend, replacing the gravel with dark grey sand, and preserving the plants but losing the mopani wood. Having made all the rookie fish-stocking mistakes, all my fish except for 6 x cory, 1 x bristlenose pleco and 2 x dwarf gourami have now gone to my...

    Substrate advice welcome

So, having made every mistake in the fishkeeping book, I have ended up with a 145l tank containing only 6 corys, 1 bristlenose pleco and 2 dwarf gouramis. All other fish went back to my wonderful LFS this morning. The gouramis might be joining them as I turn my attention to cichlids (I have hard...

When can I move my 7 week old female betta...

I have fixed things! Thank goodness for LFS. Betta, mollies, neons have all gone. I now have a 145 litre tank with only 6 corydoras, 1 BNP and 2 dwarf gouramis in, but that will be another thread!

    Corys loving life

Julii, as well - they are quite expensive over here in the UK, but so worth it for when their colours flash. I used to think catfish were ugly, but then I got 6 as a clean-up crew and they are addictive.
