African Cichlids vs Planted/Tetra Tanks During Power Loss

This is still a little bit too low for mbunas. As Barney said above, heavily planted set ups generally are better if something bad happens. I would suggest going down the tetra and Cory route. You can have a large school of tetras and corys and you could probably add in some more centre piece...

African Cichlids vs Planted/Tetra Tanks During Power Loss

A few things that I want to ask are: What is your hardness (ppm)? Reason being, you have chosen two types of aquariums that have opposite water parameters needed. Mbuna need hard water (typically 200ppm +) and corys and tetras like water of around 150ppm and less. Considering you have not...

What Fish Do You Regret Buying?

A rainbow shark in a 5 gallon tank. Probably one of the most dumb decisions I've made. Lived for about 5 years remarkably. As someone said a while back in this thread (was the one of the first 10 or 15 posts I think) I instantly saw shark and got it. Also bought 1 singular bosemani rainbowfish...

New to aquarium keeping, looking for advice

Clown loaches need a tank that’s around 8ft long, considering they need to be in a shoal of at least 6. I would also pick up more tiger barbs and one or two more koolies. Reason being with tiger barbs, they are very boisterous and will diverte their attention to other fish if there’s not enough...

New to aquarium keeping, looking for advice

By the looks of things he looks fine to me. I have a fair bit of knowledge when it comes to what fish can go with which and what can go in what type of water (hard or soft water), but he might’ve just found some algae or something. Has he moved from that spot now? Or is he still there?

    I’m back

Hey there all! I’ve been a member of the forums for almost a year, but the past 6 or 7 months I’ve been super inactive and I must say I lost a bit of interest in fishkeeping. But I’m back now and I’ll be on the forums as much as possible. I do have school from 8:30-3 so I won’t be able to talk...

Rainbowfish lost a few scales I think

Is it possible that the rest of the fish in the tank will pick up fish TB? Also thank you you guys for responding :)

Rainbowfish lost a few scales I think

Hi guys not been to active as I've had other stuff going on and not had much time to come here. Anyways, I've just been feeding my 33gallon and I've noticed one of my Males dwarf neon rainbows missing a few scales I believe. Is this from two Males sparring for a female? Also what should I treat...

What bottom feeder should I go with?

So what should I go with? Amano shrimp? Or is there another catfish that is suitable. I could always go down the RO way.

What bottom feeder should I go with?

The tank came with a ruby shark 2 danios and 2 scissortail rasboras. At that time, one danio was viciously attacking the other so I moved him. Soon all of the other fish will be rehomed or moved to bigger tanks. Right now though, all of the fish are still in the tank.

What bottom feeder should I go with?

Don't worry there are other things they will be able to eat.

What bottom feeder should I go with?

Thank you both for the replies. Should I go with amano shrimp then? They get quite big for shrimp size and I don't think they would get picked on.

What bottom feeder should I go with?

Hello there, my mum recently got a 15 gallon tank that is like a half moon tank. It's like this one, (https://www.pro-shrimp.co.uk/aquariums/3341-aquael-hexa-set-60l-5905546051453.html?gclid=CjwKCAiAjp6BBhAIEiwAkO9WuoEeulN8_RjexuabzrxDaIY-ZU_yGE0F5QRTfPR-IDRsK_68gSv1hBoCk6UQAvD_BwE) just smaller...

    55 gallon stocking questions/suggestions part 2

You can't get 5/6 angels in a 55 gallon. That amount requires at least a 100 gallon. For the algae eater, I'd choose one or the other. If you go with ottos, 6-8 of them is minimum. 10 is a good number. If you go with a pleco, an acistrus, gold nugget pleco and clown pleco are good choices. Be...

    My 20 gallon stocking idea

What are the tank dimensions and what is your GH? GH can be obtained through your water companys website. If it comes up as dH then thats fine its just the german way of celcius. 1dh= 17.4ppm. I would personally up the neon count and remove the RCS because the betta will see them as a snack and...

    Raphael catfish

Hello again. I just wanted to revisit this thread as it died off. My rapahel cat is about and about daily now just after the lights turn off. I put in a wafer for him with a bunch of different types of shrimp and proteins. He loves it a lot. My mum got some pictures of him so I will post them...

    Sliver Gourami eggs

They are both males because of the pointed dorsal. Is it the blue one you thought is pregnant? Because it could be that it is just fat or it has a tumour ( which I don't think it does but usually a rounder and fatter belly indicates a tumour in some fish). Also, dwarf gouramis are one of the...

    Sexing my Panda’s

I think the front on is a male because it has a more pointed front fin. Usually females have round front fins if I recall. I can't see the back one's front fins so I'm not too sure.
