Is Die Hard a Christmas Movie? The Debate Rages...

A Christmas movie released in February? Yeah ok you nutcase. Take this guy up to the nut house please. Die hard is not a Christmas movie. I can easily watch die hard in June and not feel ashamed. I can’t, however, do the same with elf. I could and have done it but felt so dirty afterwards.

Amen to cycling your tank. Abit of contradictory information there for me. He mentioned don’t chase water parameters Because fish have been bred in captivity but then said In the wild fish don’t eat much and it’s in their DNA. Am I missing something?

It’s hard to tell exactly the ammonia level but I would say less than 0.25ppm. 0 on the nitrites. Not sure when I’ll see a nitrite reading. Just waiting for that

Yeah the current method I’m using and what seems like an easier method is to pump the water out with the pond pump (out the window). I fill up the big bucket of new water 3 times which amounts to 120/130 L ish.

Thank you guys. I just want to avoid killing the other two. I’m on watch all the time now. They seem active enough and interact with me when I approach the tank. I keep the temp between 18 to 22. Using the python from the kitchen isn’t an option plus the outside tap is way to cold for that...

some bad news. One of the fish died. Carrot 🥕 Over the past couple of days as suggested if I see any ammonia in the tank, do a 70% water change daily. In a 200l tank that’s 140l if my maths is correct. I’ve been adding tap conditioner to the water I’m adding. So tap conditioner to the 140l...

Yeah I only found this out a little while after using it. I initially did it to stop it from harming the fish. But in a non cycled tanks it’s not very help full. Doing a 70% water change is more helpful in this scenario I’m guessing

Thank you guys for the advice so far. I’ve just done a 70ish percent water change. Fish look happier which means I can sleep a little better at least for tonight. When you say filter bacteria is this the nitrifying bacteria in api QuickStart? Or is this another bacteria?
