    New Kribs...

A few weeks ago, I decided to add a few new kribensis into my medium tank as the current pair didn't seem to have much luck breding... I added the new fish and quickly identified which were trouble makers and which pair seems to get along well... the trouble makers were moved into a smaller...

    DIY 3D Aquarium background.

If I'm using a single colour across the entire structure like the rear wall, then I layered up all the pieces and did final shaping and countouring, before cementing over the whole structure. However, if you are making structures with multicoloured layers like my monoliths and rockwork across...

    Back after a long break....

I've (hopefully) now finally posted my own video of how I made my 3D background for my aquarium and linked it through a nerw post on the forum here.... Please feel welcome to take a look! https://www.fishforums.net/threads/diy-3d-aquarium-background.477184/

    DIY 3D Aquarium background.

Finally, as promised please enjoy my video showing how to make a budget 3D rock wall background for your aquarium. Considering that a moderate sized background might cost you around £300+ ($450), I think this is a great option, plus the benefit that you can design it to include whatever...

    Back after a long break....

My brother used slate chippings in a tank instead of sand or gravel... but was spread across the bottom. You'll probably have all the weight focussed on small footprints which might cause stress in the glass. My advice would be to have a go at making a 3D wall in my style... if it doens't work...

    Back after a long break....

Youtube... do a search for 3D aquarium backgrounds.... some are instruction films.. others are just shop purchased....

    Back after a long break....

There's numerous ways online showing how to do it... the easiest way is the crazy paving look.. it's quick and simple but not quite as effective...

    Back after a long break....

I agree... I was horrified when I saw a video of a guy in the states who paid that amount for a background... I'll accept that it DID look like good quality... but I make mine to my own design and ideas for around $50?

    Back after a long break....

Hi Jenny; Sorry about the delay in responding to your comments and question... These were quick photos taking during the rebuild which is now completed and a video of the process (low quiality filming I'm afraid) will be posted here... To answer your question though, yes it's 3D and has very...

    Back after a long break....

Although I'll do a more extensive explanation of the technique, Take a look at these photos taken during the rebuild... First was a test to see the general rear rock wall before concreting, followed by a test of the positioning of a couple of extra structures. These were further expanded as can...

    Back after a long break....

I just looked back at my activity, or general lack of it and found I'd not posted or commented or even logged on here for 4 years... did ya miss me?!! While I'm not a particularly active person on any forum, I like to think that my twopenny worth on here inspires people with projects and I've...

    Kribensis Mating Behavior?

`OK... more developments.... having convinced myself that I now have a M/F pair, and the third (original fish) is male and relocated, they failed to produce babies at their first attempt, but showed clear indications that they'd read the mating instruction manual. I explained how I moved the pot...

    Kribensis Mating Behavior?

Well, it's been a week since I saw the Kribs appear to be spawning and since then, one of the pair has always been sitting inside the pot cave, while their digging activities have totally ruined the appearance of that corner of the tank... (They managed to excavate all the sand, right down to...

    Kribensis Mating Behavior?

OK.... so.. further developments... I'd explained before that the original male/female pair didn't work out with her demise... so bought two more larger females, with much deeper purple colouring in the belly.. to give him the choice of partner... Things became much more active after that and...

    Kribensis Mating Behavior?

Just to add my comments on Sesshis excitement... In my local store I was commenting about being in the mood for another breeding project and the guy suggested kribs.... I bought a pair a few days later and added pots as caves but he was very aggressive and she died soon after. I decided that he...

    Angelfish eggs....

Immediate worries subsided... curiously, when I watched them spawning first of all, the results I saw looked like pinky coloured pin-head sized objects.. a few turned to a creamy white which I'd seen before.. That was on Saturday night. This evening (Tuesday) it looks like the parents have been...

    Angelfish eggs....

Thanks for the reply Colin... the first time I've seen eggs, I've wondered if they had already gone through the transparent stage and onto the healthy amber colour... I'll keep an eye on them and see if they turn...

    Angelfish eggs....

Hi People... Thought I'd ask the question here as I'm sure many of you will have had more experience and success with this... I have two pairs of Angelfish which have both spawned in the past, but so far I've not been able to get to the stage of free swimming babies. First time (pair 1)...

    Strange tank construction

Hi; Just for my twopennyworth, and probably repeating what others have said, The strips across the top of the front and rear glass are for strengthening, (I beleive this style is referred to as "euro-bracing) intsead of having a crossmember centrally in the tank. I think if you check through a...
